On 1/1/16 at 07:10, the Baldwinsville volunteers were dispatched automatic aid with the Plainville Fire District for the reported house fire with people trapped on Eden Lane.  Initial reports indicated 3 people trapped and unable to evacuate.  As crews were staffing, additional reports confirmed smoke showing with people trapped on the roof.  Baldwinsville Car 400, Car 1, Car 2 quickly arrived to find smoke showing with all occupants removed via ground ladder.  Baldwinsville FF Sean Dunlap (neighbor) retrieved a ground ladder and evacuated the occupants just in advance of the initial engine companies’ arrival while his wife provided the Emergency Operations Center with the pertinent updates.  Baldwinsville Engine 4 (Lt. Belczak) arrived as the first due engine, secured their own water source and deployed a handline to side A.  As crews were stretching and the OIC was performing a 360 size-up, Car 2 and Belgium Cold Springs Car 4 forced entry through the Side A man door to allow engine crews to advance.  The seat of the fire was quickly found and extinguished within 5 minutes.  Ladder 2 (Capt. Reilly- Lakeside FD) arrived and combined with other members of Engine 4 to stretch the back-up handline while primary searches were being completed.  Crews from Plainville, Belgium Cold Springs and Baldwinsville Engine 7 (Lt. Neish) threw ground ladders to all sides and elevations and provided mechanical ventilation.  Lakeside Ladder 1 established the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) to ensure firefighter safety on the fire ground.  GBAC provided medical coverage for the incident.  Plainville Car 2 established the Plainville command.  All crews cleared within 2 hours.

Busy start to 2016 for the Baldwinsville volunteers.  This is the 3rd call of the day for our volunteers with the other 2 alarms being a carbon monoxide alarm with confirmed elevated CO levels in the residence and a chest pains call shortly after midnight.
